Chantaiman formed in Hong Kong in 2010 around the talents of Austin Lam, Mic Chan, and Michael Cheuk. The group cites their influences in britpop and post-punk, which has earned them comparisons to Interpol, Blur, The xx, and Embrace. At the core of their sound is aloof and emotive vocals, wrapped in ambient guitar riffs, melodic bass lines, and mesmerizing drums. After playing a string of shows in various venues, including the prestigious Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheater, Chantaiman took a break from live performances to record and write their debut full length album.
