现在是台湾时间2020年4月20日上午11点42分，也是叶永鋕事件发生后的第20年。
因为性别气质跟大部分的人“不同”，叶永鋕在学校受到霸凌，甚至不敢在下课时间去厕所，于是他只能在下课之前提前离开教室去厕所，一个，而这个看似“安全”、没有人会注意到他的时间点，并没有人们想像的那么完美。
2000年4月20日上午11点42分，叶永鋕跟往常一样，在上课时间去上厕所，然而，这次，他并没有再回到教室。当人们再次注意到他时，他已经倒在他的血泊当中，送医急救后，隔天不治死亡。

2004年，教育部将《两性平等教育法》修订为《性别平等教育法》
2015年11月7日，蔡依林在演唱会中播放《玫瑰少年》纪录片
2018年12月26日，蔡依林发行收录于专辑《Ugly Beauty》中的《玫瑰少年》
2019年10月，我在音乐课的机缘下，写了这首歌
