温蒂妮（Undine、Ondine或Undina，亦被译作娥丁、昂丁、乌丁娜），又称水女神，是中世纪欧洲炼金术士帕拉塞尔苏斯在其炼金术理论中提及的“水”元素名称，亦是欧洲古代传说中掌管四大元素的“四精灵”之一，与“火”、“风”、“地”并列。后来温蒂妮被描绘成居于水边的美丽女性精灵；在欧洲，“温蒂妮”这个名字也会与其它水精灵的名字互通（如东欧传说中的Vodianoi，与及斯拉夫神话中的Rusalka）。传说中，温蒂妮本身没有灵魂，但能透过与男性结合及孕育子女的手段获取灵魂。德国作家穆特·福开所撰写的小说《Undine》（中译《婀婷》或《涡堤孩》）就是以温蒂妮为主人翁。在书中，生来没有灵魂的温蒂妮如同传说一般，同样透过与凡人结成婚姻，并生育子女，从而获得自己的灵魂。拉丁语中，“unda”有“波浪”的意思。波神星（Undina）就是以温蒂妮命名的小行星。 - from wiki.
